Public Procurers

In practice, there are a number of barriers for public organisations to buy innovations. In the current litigious climate it is easier to be risk averse and just buy the same things in the same way that we have always done. However this will not unlock the efficiencies, savings and quality improvements that innovative companies have to offer.

  • Enprotex seeks to spark innovation through public procurement to meet future needs of procurers and users in the protective textile sector using a number of methodologies including:
    establishing and sustaining a specialised Network of European Public Procurement Organisations to review current practice and undertake demonstrator pilots in the protective textile sector;
  • Developing cooperation among public procurers and at providing an interface with, both, end-users and manufacturers of protective textiles.
  • Developing model documentation and strategies for Procurement Organisations to use when procuring innovation which reduce the barriers to participation from SMEs.

In particular, the ENPROTEX project will aim to develop methodologies for undertaking pre-commercial procurement and for providing industry with forward commitments for the procurement of protective textiles products so as to encourage innovation in the sector. We have planned actions to disseminate information about progress made to the sectors' stakeholder communities.

We would like to invite you to collaborate with these networks in order to strengthen the European protective textile community. We are particularly interested in holding a conference for public procurers on protective textiles. If you would like to be involved in this, go to the contact us page and send us your details or those of the person in your organisation who is responsible for PPE procurement.
